Casa Vela exterior with white concrete walls and open sky

Casa Vela

Lisbon, Portugal — 2025

4,200 sq ft — Private Residence

Casa Vela sits on a slope above the Tagus, and the whole design follows from that one fact. Rather than fight the grade, we let the house step down it in three shifted volumes, each opening toward the water. The clients asked for a home that felt quiet even with the ocean in view — the answer was fewer, larger openings, and walls thick enough to hold the silence.
